Lamb Patties
We make these as breakfast patties but in reality our teen grabs them as quick and tasty snacks throughout the day. They are easy to make and a nice variation from the pork or beef patties.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground lamb
- 1/2 medium onion finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Directions
- Preheat oven to broil (high setting)
- Using a large bowl, mix the lamb, onion and spices.
- Form uniform sized patties
- Grease the slotted upper pan using a high heat oil. Line the lower drip pan with aluminum foil to facilitate easy cleaning.
- Arrange the patties on the top of the slotted upper pan.
- Place in oven.
- After 9 minutes or when the top browns slightly, flip the patties using kitchen tongs and broil for about 6 more minutes.
- Both sides should be lightly brown and the internal temperature should reach 170 F.
Optional
Add chopped mint leaves and lemon zest to the lamb mix prior to broiling.
Add a dash of cayenne (to taste) for a spicier dish.
Serve with yogurt tsatsiki or with an Israeli salad of tomatoes and cucumbers.
